Drug Addiction Recovery |
![]() |
While you and your family are on the journey to recovery you will need all the support to can get!Family MembersWhy not start off by thinking about family members whom you can count on for support. Even family a distance away can be helpful, as staying in touch is easier than ever due to email and cheaper long distance phone service. If you have family members close by, so much the better.Next line of help is friends. Sometimes though, I know it is hard to tell friends what is going on in your life. It can be embarrassing to have to admit that your child or partner is involved in drugs. Many people do not understand what devastation drug abusers can cause in a family. If they are not knowledgeable about drugs it will be harder to get understanding from them. What options do you have in your area? This is going to depend a lot of where you live. Some places have a bigger selection of options, so try using your local phone book to see if there are any local meetings. For example NarAnon is a support group with chapters all over the USA. Unfortunately many states only have one or two chapters which will only work for you if you are close to one of them. It is worth checking for though as they are designed to aid families who have a drug addicted member.
Local Services. You can also try the county offices where you live as they will often have information about small local groups, sometimes attached to a Church. Also remember you can ask a question or request a free telephone coaching session. from me. This may help you decide how to move forward. |
