Signs and Dangers of GHB abuse

GHB is a colorless liquid with a salty taste. It is often disguised in drinks. Effect comes on in about 10 - 15 mins and can last three to five hours. This drug has not been given much attention in the media, however it is a VERY DANGEROUS DRUG, and death can occur with ONE USE.

Symptoms of use are initially similar to alcohol and include:

  • Pulse and blood pressure may be low or high
  • Pupils normal but slow to react to light
  • Body temp normal to low
  • Increased energy
  • Muscle relaxation
  • Talkativeness/socializing behavior
  • Uninhibited behavior
  • Loss of coordination
  • Loss of gag reflex
  • Nausea
  • Headaches/dizziness

Heavy use/overdose

  • Breathing problems, incoherent/slurred speech
  • Desire to sleep
  • Inability to think
  • Unconsciousness
  • Slow shallow breathing
  • Slow heart rate
  • Hallucinations
  • Vomiting
  • Seizures
  • coma

Special dangers

  • Unconsciousness and vomiting is extremely dangerous as vomit can be inhaled.
  • Users can quickly slip into a coma, heart will slow and stop without medical intervention.
